Gene Editing and Engineered Cells

Biological engineering is an exciting and rapidly developing field that applies principles from engineering, biology, and other sciences to design and manipulate biological systems for various purposes. It involves the use of tools and techniques to modify living organisms, cells, or molecules to achieve specific goals, such as producing valuable compounds, developing novel therapies, or addressing environmental challenges.

Decode Science offers custom gene and oligo manufacture, CRISPR expertise, quality control and more. At Decode Science, we pride ourselves on the level of flexibility, customisation, and collaboration we bring when working together to come up with a solution that improves outcomes for you.

High-efficiency guide RNAs for knockouts and knock-ins.
CRISPR experts agree that using synthetic single guide RNAs (sgRNAs) for genome engineering generate more efficient and consistent editing results than any other type of guide RNAs.
Synthego sgRNAs are highly pure guides that deliver indel frequencies of up to 99%, making it easy to efficiently conduct knockout or knock-ins in virtually any cell type. Their sgRNAs can be ordered with site-specific chemical modifications that provide greater stability and decreased activation of the cellular innate immune response.

Genetic engineering

Manipulating the genetic material of organisms to introduce, remove, or modify specific genes. This enables the production of desired proteins, modification of metabolic pathways, and creation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) for various applications.

Synthetic Biology

Designing and constructing biological systems with novel functions not found in nature. This involves assembling standardized genetic parts, circuits, and modules to create biological "machines" for tasks such as biosynthesis, sensing, and computation.

Bioprocess Engineering

Developing and optimising processes for the large-scale production of biomolecules, pharmaceuticals, biofuels, and other bioproducts. This includes designing bioreactors, optimising fermentation conditions, and implementing downstream purification techniques.

Tissue Engineering

Creating functional tissues and organs by combining cells, biomaterials, and bioactive molecules. Tissue engineers aim to regenerate damaged tissues, develop organ replacements, and model disease processes for drug discovery and testing.

Biomedical Engineering

Applying engineering principles to solve biomedical problems, such as designing medical devices, diagnostics, imaging technologies, and prosthetics. This field encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including biomechanics, biomaterials, medical imaging, and neural engineering.

Twist Bioscience

Twist Bioscience

Twist Bioscience, headquartered in South San Francisco, is a prominent biotechnology company specializing in the manufacture of synthetic DNA and DNA products for diverse industries. Established in 2013 by Emily Leproust, Bill Banyai, and Bill Peck, Twist Bioscience has quickly emerged as a leader in the field.

In March 2021, the company was represented by Emily Leproust at a tabletop exercise during the Munich Security Conference. The simulation focused on an outbreak of weaponized monkeypox, showcasing Twist Bioscience's involvement in addressing critical global challenges. In May 2021, Twist Bioscience collaborated with the Genome Project-Write to launch a groundbreaking Computer-Aided Design (CAD) platform for whole genome design. This innovative platform automates workflows, facilitating collaborative efforts essential for scaling up genome design—from designing plasmids to megabases across entire genomes. This initiative marks a significant advancement in genomic research and underscores Twist Bioscience's commitment to driving progress through technology and collaboration.
